I'll Try Instead

I'll Try Instead

(I'll Cry Instead)

I've got every reason on earth to be mad

'Cause this dementia has got me bad

If I could just remember

If it’s just July or just December

But I can't, so I'll try instead

You know senility has knocked me off my feet

Now I can’t go out in the street

If you could see me now

I know it would make you sad somehow

But you can't, so I'll try instead

I always forget when there's people there

I get shy when they start to stare

I'm gonna hide myself away

But I'll come back again someday

And when I do don t go treating me like a fool

‘Cause with dementia there are no hardfast rules

I never know what I’m gonna do

And I never remember anything too

Until then I'll try instead
