Is there anybody going to listen to my story

Of how I came about to be in here

My kids said they couldn’t look after me and they were sorry

Now I won’t be getting out again I fear

When I think of all the times I tried so hard to leave here

My kids will turn to me and start to cry

And they promise me that they will take me out , I believe them

After all this time, I don't know why

It’s the kind of place that leads you to despair

You feel a fool

If you say the cooking’s good, then I’ll know its misunderstood

it’s gruel,  ooh, ooh, ooh

I was told when I was young that retirement would lead to pleasure?

I didn’t understand it when they said

When you’re in the home there’ll be no more days of leisure?

Will the kids believe it when I’m dead?
